Exploring gender equality across the globe – talks, performances and readings will take place at the Southbank Centre over three fascinating days. Plenty of well-known faces will be there too, including Naomi Wolf, Sandi Toksvig and Shazia Mirza.

This global event for positive environmental impact will see many lights switched off for an hour on Saturday 28 March. Major landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, the Millennium Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral will switch off their lights at 20:30. An exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery devoted to David Hockney’s journey from being a draughtsman in the 1950s, this is a fascinating insight into the artist. Featuring 150 artworks from both public and private collections, the show also includes a selection of daily self-portraits Hockney created in the 1980s over a period of two months.
