From an elegant private residence in 1850 to a Gentlemen’s club, a chic art deco apartment block to the five-star establishment it is today, The Athenaeum has survived all manner of events, including the Great Depression, two World Wars and the global financial crisis in 2008. The Covid-19 outbreak is another world event that our iconic hotel aims to see through.
The wellbeing of our guests and team is our utmost priority, and strict measures have been put into place to ensure their safety. Whilst the hotel will remain ‘open’, availability will be limited to long term guests, those unable to get home due to travel restrictions and key workers seeking emergency accommodation.
With a considerably smaller team than usual, you may have noticed that we’ve been a little quiet of late. But just as it is inside the hotel, we want to ensure that morale is kept high in this unprecedented time and to do so, we’ll be sharing a number of stories, tips and insights from the small – but perfectly formed – team, based at the hotel.
