Get familiar with the faces you’ll see at The Athenaeum with our series of staff Q&A’s. This month, we caught up with our Front Office Manager, Simone Hopman, who has currently been working at The Athenaeum for the past year and a half.
The Athenaeum sets itself apart through the relationship the team has with our guests. We are a family-run hotel with many team members that have been here for several decades, which makes the guests feel that they are returning home when staying in London and always seeing a familiar face as they come through the door. Our new starters spend time with these cultural ambassadors so that they also understand what true Athenaeum hospitality stands for. We like to get to know our guests and treat them as individuals in every detail.
Returning guests will find their favourite fruit in the fruit bowl when they arrive, we already know how they like their eggs and coffee in the morning and the reception team will have their favourite room assigned.
I love that no day is the same, when I walk into the hotel every morning I never know what the day is going to bring. I am here to support the guests and my colleagues in anything they need so when I am able to help the guests solve a problem, it is very rewarding! We love to create ‘Wow’ moments, for example, I’ve helped many guests with their marriage proposals and I’ve assisted large family groups plan their trips in London.
I absolutely love the Steak Tartare. I’d say its a must try if this kind of dish tickles your fancy!
I only visited London once on a two day weekend trip before deciding to move here!
