From world-class music and art, to shopping, sport and an all-consuming immersive experience, here are our top picks of things to do in London this July.
The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries
Be one of the first to visit these galleries at Westminster Abbey that are opening to the public for the first time this summer. Located up high in the 13th century tritorium, the gallery features 300 objects from the Abbey’s most treasured collection, including the marriage certificate of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Book tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
BBC Proms
This is the largest classical music festival in the world, with venues across London hosting incredible classical music performances. The festival kicks off on 19 July and the calendar of events during July includes a Violin Concerto at the Royal Albert Hall, lunchtime concerts at Cadogan Hall and special Proms talks at Imperial College.
British Summer Time
An altogether different kind of music festival this July is British Summer Time on Hyde Park, which takes place from 5 to 14 July. The line-up includes Celine Dion, Florence + The Machine and Robbie Williams, as well as Lionel Richie at the Stevie Wonder celebratory event. There are also a number of free events at the venue from 8 to 11 July, such as circus and cabaret performances.
Summer Streets
Shop your heart out on Regent Street on 14 and 21 July, when the road will be closed to traffic. This is the best time to wander between boutiques and the world’s top flagship stores, while also enjoying music and food in a festival-like atmosphere.
Wimbledon Tennis Championships
Taking place in south west London from 1 to 14 July, the most famous tennis event in the world is an iconic event in the city. Even those who don’t have tickets to the main courts can enter with general grounds tickets, with plenty of exhilarating matches to be enjoyed on the outside courts. Join others to watch exciting matches on big screens on the grounds at Wimbledon as well as at venues across London, such as The Scoop.
Cricket World Cup 2019
London is all about sporting excellence this summer, with the last matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 taking place in the city during July. Matches taking place in London include Pakistan vs. Bangladesh on 5 July, and the final at Lord’s on 14 July. Get your hands on the last remaining tickets by resale from the official website, or join other Londoners to watch the matches unfold on the city’s big screens.

National Park City Week
A celebration of London’s mighty open spaces, there are dozens of original events going on across London from 20 to 28 July especially for the occasion. Gain free access to some of London’s best rooftop gardens, enjoy a calendar of events on the National Park City Stage at the National Theatre, and try taster sessions of water sports in the heart of the city.
